Dr. Esthé Spicule Treatments, Explained

DR. ESTHÉ SPICULES
The gentlest needling alternative I offer, and why I love it.

Not everyone walks in ready for a needle, and I get that completely. That's part of why I love having Dr. Esthé spicule treatments in my back pocket.

Spicules are microscopic, needle-like structures that actually come from freshwater sponges. Once they're worked into the skin, they create tiny, controlled micro-channels, the same general idea as microneedling, but without a device, and without going anywhere near as deep. People sometimes call it liquid skin needling, which is a pretty fair description.

The treatment itself is simple. I massage the spicules into clean skin, and they start working almost straight away. You'll feel a bit of prickling or tingling, which settles within a day or so.

There are two protocols I work with, and I'll choose based on what your skin actually needs. One is built for ageing, fine lines and loss of elasticity. The other is for congestion, acne-prone skin and pigmentation. I won't guess which one is right for you beforehand; that's exactly what your consultation is for.

What I really like about spicules is how much gentler they are than most needling-based treatments, which opens this up to a wider range of skins and life stages. That said, they're not right for everyone, active eczema, rosacea flare-ups or compromised skin need a different approach first.

Gentle doesn't mean ineffective.
The right protocol depends entirely on what we're treating. Let's work that out properly.
