Why I pair the two, and what they actually are.

I get a lot of questions about exosomes lately, mostly because they're having a moment in the industry. I want to explain what they actually are, because the buzz around them tends to skip the actual substance.

Exosomes are tiny particles released by cells, carrying proteins, growth factors and genetic material that essentially act as messages between cells. In skincare, they're used to support the skin's own repair and communication processes. On their own, though, they can't really get past the surface of the skin in any meaningful way.

That's exactly why I pair them with Dermapen4. The micro-channels created during microneedling are what actually let the exosomes reach where they're useful, while your skin is already in active repair mode from the treatment itself.

Specifically, I use the Dp Dermaceuticals range, MG-EXO-SKIN in clinic immediately after your microneedling, and EXO-SKIN as the homecare serum to continue supporting your skin afterward. They're formulated to work together with Dermapen4 specifically, rather than being a generic add-on.

I'll be upfront with you: exosomes are newer, and I treat them the same way I treat anything newer, with realistic expectations rather than hype. They're not a guaranteed fix, and they're not suited to every skin. What I can say is that, used properly alongside microneedling, they can genuinely support hydration, barrier strength and how well your skin recovers and rebuilds afterward.
